The house of England rugby, Twickenham Stadium, is to be renamed in a deal between England’s Rugby Soccer Union (RFU) and German insurance coverage firm Allianz, the RFU confirmed on Monday.
Twickenham, named after the world of London through which it was inbuilt 1907, held its first rugby worldwide in 1910 when England hosted Wales, and can change its identify to Allianz Stadium in September.
“[The agreement] will see Allianz and the RFU supply important assist to the grassroots sport by monetary funding that goals to safe future funding into the group sport,” the RFU mentioned in an announcement.
The sponsorship of the 82,000-capacity stadium is the eighth of its variety for Allianz, and is paying homage to the renaming of Eire’s Lansdowne Highway Stadium which turned the Aviva Stadium after the previous floor was demolished and a brand new one constructed.
