GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Second-seeded Danielle Collins misplaced within the second spherical of the Guadalajara Open on Wednesday and third seed Victoria Azarenka withdrew from her match due to damage.

Qualifier Olivia Gadecki, ranked No. 152, pulled off a significant upset with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Collins to achieve the quarterfinals of an elite WTA match for the primary time. She beat former US Open champion Sloane Stephens within the first spherical.

The 30-year-old Collins, who’s retiring on the finish of the season, arrived at Guadalajara with 39 tour-level wins and two titles on tour this 12 months and is at the moment ranked eleventh.
