“I loved planning the race and planning the assault on the final lap. When you’ll be able to plan a transfer like that, and win a race with such an important overtake it’s actually rewarding. I actually loved it.

“I used to be emotional, however I used to be emotional as a result of it’s by no means what it appears from the surface; I’d had a tricky couple of years.”
